Today’s website is an interesting experiment in online democracy. The government website for the Prime Minister has recently had a new section added to it where you can sign, or even create, a petition to the PM. I’m not entirely sure if it’s gping to be welcomed by Tony Blair, given that the most popular petitions at the moment call on him to repeal the hunting ban and scrap the introduction of ID cards. There’s also an interesting petition for an amendment to copyright law to make personal backups legal, but probably my favourite is one that simply states: “We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to stand on his head and juggle ice-cream“. Where else in the world could you find that?
